Accessibility

A site that some people cannot use is a site that is not finished. This page says what we have actually done, and what we know is still missing.

What we aim for

We build toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. We do not claim a formal certification; we claim the work below, which was measured rather than assumed.

What is in place

  • Keyboard. Every control can be reached and operated with a keyboard, and the focus outline is always visible. A skip link jumps straight to the content.
  • Motion. If your system asks for reduced motion, the scroll-driven animation is replaced by a still version. Nothing moves without your say-so, and the animated version is offered as a button rather than forced.
  • Contrast. Text over imagery was measured frame by frame at the worst point of each animation, not just on a convenient still. The lowest reading on the home page is 5.8:1, above the 4.5:1 that AA requires for body text.
  • Structure. Headings run in order, landmarks are labelled, form fields have real labels, and errors are announced rather than only coloured.
  • Language. The page declares its language and updates it when you switch between English and Spanish, so screen readers pronounce it correctly.
  • Images. Meaningful images carry alternative text; decorative ones are hidden from assistive technology instead of being described pointlessly.
  • Zoom. The layout holds together at 200% zoom and on narrow screens without side-scrolling.

Known limitations

  • The scroll-driven introduction is a visual device. Its meaning is repeated in text below it, but the experience is not identical for everyone.
  • The portrait in the About section plays a short silent video. It carries no information, so there is no caption; it is set to be ignored by screen readers.
  • We have tested with keyboard navigation, reduced-motion settings, mobile screen sizes and automated contrast measurement. We have not yet completed a full audit with users of screen readers.

If something blocks you

Tell us and we will fix it, and in the meantime we will get you the information another way — by phone, by email, or in person. Write to cmena.realtor@gmail.com or call (347) 685-8017. Say what page you were on and what happened. We aim to reply within two business days.

Alternatives

Anything on this site can be provided by phone or in a plain document on request. No form on this site is the only way to reach us.
